Merlin the Seal, now you are Free!

We (Steve, Karen, Abby and Aoife Ward) rescued Merlin from Garrylucas beach 2 weeks ago.  He had a bad abscess on his poor face when we found him. We contacted the Dingle Seal Sanctuary, sent them a photo of him from the beach and they said he needed immediate attention as he wouldn't survive a night on the beach. It took 3 of us to wrestle him into a fish box with a large rug (from our friend Dermot who lives up the road and eventually off we went to meet the rescue team who met us half way to Dingle. 2 weeks later Merlin made a full recovery and was released by Abby and Aoife on the beach this Tuesday.

Spirit of Christmas

Congratulations to Ellie - Mai from fourth class on her recent charity fundraiser . Ellie started ceramics classes in Kinsale with Liz Burgess in Sept of 2011. Ellie has a passion for art & has handmade some beautiful pieces. At the indoor Christmas market in The Blue Haven on dec 6th Ellie-Mai took a stall and hosted a charity sale of her ceramics & some framed felts. The amazing amount of €300 was raised on the night and Ellie-Mai has kindly donated this to The Cork Simon Community. Well done Ellie-Mai your generosity & kind nature is inspiring.

Fáilte go Nuacht Eile / Welcome to Other News

Fáilte go Nuacht Eile / Welcome to Other News!

The school has requested that we create a new Nuacht site
to clearly distinguish between official and non official school news.  Nuacht will now only have official school information that has been approved by the principal or vice principal but a separate new site "NuachtEile" (Other News) which will be wholly managed by the PA has been setup for sharing other miscellaneous parent and student information relating to non-official school events such as fundraisers, summer camps, sports, music, local activities, etc.

This new site is accessible at NuachtEile.gaelscoilchionntsaile.ie.  You can optionally subscribe to posts via email by filling out the form under "Nuacht Eile via Email", by clicking "like" on the school Facebook page or by "following" the school on Twitter.

All parents are welcome to submit requests for new posts pertaining to non-official school news to NuachtEile by following guidelines under the "New Posting Request"  link.

The original "Nuacht.gaelscoilchionntsaile.ie" site will remain the official source of approved school news and if you have an email subscription setup you will continue to receive these updates automatically each day.

Thank you

PA

PS: The website team is always looking for new volunteers to help maintain and develop the site. If you are interested in helping out please contact: pa@gaelscoilchionntsaile.ie

NPC Minority Religion Group

NPC Minority Religion Grouprepresenting parents of children of non-catholic faiths

 Dear Parents
National Parents Council Primary (NPC) is the representative organisation for parents of children in primary education. By being part of NPC, both individual parents and Parent Associations can be part of making changes in our education system at a national level.  In order to hear the voices of parents in different settings and situations NPC has a number of Special Interest groups

Currently, NPC has the following special interest groups:

§ Minority Religion Group – representing parents of children of non-catholic faiths

§ Migrant Parent Group – representing migrant parents

§ Special Educational Needs Group – representing parents of children with special educational needs in mainstream and special schools

§ Irish medium Schools Group – representing parents of children in Irish medium and Gaeltacht schools

§ Traveller Parent Group – representing Traveller parents

Being part of a special interest group allows parents to explore the particular issues pertaining to their group and to exchange information and ideas to further benefit the education and wellbeing of their children. The special interest groups are each entitled to have one representative on the NPC Assembly, which is the body within NPC concerned with developing educational policies.

We are trying to determine the level of interest in the Minority Religion Group and want to contact all of the parents of children of non-catholic faiths in your school to see if they would be interested in becoming involved in National Parents Council Primary.

I would appreciate it if you would bring this letter and the enclosed questionnaire to the attention of all parents of children of non-catholic faiths in your school. We would welcome support in (a) the determination of the aims and objectives of the group, as well as (b) the exploration of key issues facing these parents of children in primary school. If you are interested in being part of this group please print and complete the attached questionnaire and return to Deirdre Sullivan, National Parents Council Primary, 12 Marlborough Court, Dublin 1.
Questionnaire – Click here

Many thanks.
Yours sincerely,
