NPC Minority Religion Group

NPC Minority Religion Grouprepresenting parents of children of non-catholic faiths

 Dear Parents
National Parents Council Primary (NPC) is the representative organisation for parents of children in primary education. By being part of NPC, both individual parents and Parent Associations can be part of making changes in our education system at a national level.  In order to hear the voices of parents in different settings and situations NPC has a number of Special Interest groups

Currently, NPC has the following special interest groups:

§ Minority Religion Group – representing parents of children of non-catholic faiths

§ Migrant Parent Group – representing migrant parents

§ Special Educational Needs Group – representing parents of children with special educational needs in mainstream and special schools

§ Irish medium Schools Group – representing parents of children in Irish medium and Gaeltacht schools

§ Traveller Parent Group – representing Traveller parents

Being part of a special interest group allows parents to explore the particular issues pertaining to their group and to exchange information and ideas to further benefit the education and wellbeing of their children. The special interest groups are each entitled to have one representative on the NPC Assembly, which is the body within NPC concerned with developing educational policies.

We are trying to determine the level of interest in the Minority Religion Group and want to contact all of the parents of children of non-catholic faiths in your school to see if they would be interested in becoming involved in National Parents Council Primary.

I would appreciate it if you would bring this letter and the enclosed questionnaire to the attention of all parents of children of non-catholic faiths in your school. We would welcome support in (a) the determination of the aims and objectives of the group, as well as (b) the exploration of key issues facing these parents of children in primary school. If you are interested in being part of this group please print and complete the attached questionnaire and return to Deirdre Sullivan, National Parents Council Primary, 12 Marlborough Court, Dublin 1.

Many thanks.
Yours sincerely,
