New School for Carrigaline

The Edmund Rice Schools Trust, with the support and facilitation of Christian Brothers College Cork, is planning to apply to the Department of Education and Skills for the patronage of the new co-educational voluntary secondary school which is expected to open in Carrigaline in 2016. As an organisation of lay people which represents over one hundred primary and secondary schools previously run by the Christian Brothers in Ireland, ERST offers a wealth of experience in the area of educational trusteeship. It is committed to continuing the tradition of Blessed Edmund Rice in the provision of excellence in education and believes that it is best placed to offer the young people of Carrigaline a unique and qualitative experience characterised by commitment to Christian values, a caring community driven by a spirit of partnership and the pursuit of excellence in teaching and learning. The trust envisions this new college will emulate the policies, practices and outcomes of CBC, offering parents the best educational experience that can be attained for their children. The college will be co-educational, non-fee paying and thus part of the Department of Education and Skills free scheme for post-primary education.

Parents from Carrigaline and the surrounding areas who have sons or daughters in primary school or who plan to send their children to local primary schools are encouraged to register their interest in the ERST patronage proposal by clicking here and completing the online ‘Expression of Interest’ form.

Alternatively, forms can be downloaded here and returned by post to Dr. Larry Jordan, Principal, Christian Brothers College, Sidney Hill, Wellington Road, Cork.

Registration of interest should be completed without delay but not later than Tuesday 25 June 2013.

For all enquiries kindly contact us at 021 4501653 or enquire@cbccork.ie.

We encourage all parents in the greater Carrigaline area to lend their support to the development of this exciting educational opportunity. Thank you.

Iomanaíocht / Hurling

We hope to go hurling training with Rang 3 agus Rang 4 on Friday 7th June 2013 so please bring in a hurley, helmet and shinguards if you have them.

Go raibh maith agat.

The school website needs your help.

We are still looking for parents who may have some web design skills or design flare who can help develop and improve the site.  To date, everything has been done at no cost and with virtually no web expertise so who knows what can be done if we can find some volunteers who really know what they are doing!  Even if you have no skills in these areas you can still help out, all you need is a computer, some free time and access to the internet.

Contact: darren@gaelscoilchionntsaile.ie or the WebTeam if you can help out for the 2013/2014 school year.  Thank you!
