Violin Tuition in Gaelscoil Chionn tSaile


Kinsale Music Academy are now offering Violin tuition in Gaelscoil Chionn tSaile. 

Group classes will be taking place on Fridays during the school day. These classes will be arranged according to age and ability. 

A limited number of individual one-to-one lessons will be available after school hours on Monday and Thursday afternoons.

Dyspraxia Ireland Summit 2015


We are pleased to be announcing details of our upcoming Dyspraxia Ireland Summit 2015, this Summit brings together leading experts in the field of Dyspraxia/DCD from Ireland and the U.K. Attendance at this event will be beneficial for both people with Dyspraxia/DCD and Health and Educational Professionals alike. The summit will take place on Saturday, 10th October 2015, Sheraton Hotel Athlone, Co. Westmeath.

 

The theme of the Summit this year is “Thrive with Dyspraxia”

 

We are very excited to have the following speakers addressing this theme:

 

  • Gareth Noble is one of Ireland’s leading litigators in the area of Education Law: cases for children and families in respect of bullying, disciplinary issues, educational law issues and services for children. 
  • Catherine Sweeney, former Chairperson of the Irish Learning Support Association (ILSA) and an Associate with the Special Education Support Services (SESS). Catherine will talk about the supports available to students with Dyspraxia and how to support a student in school. 
  • Dorothy Armstrong, Senior Occupational Therapist and Lecturer in Occupational Therapy in NUI Galway. Dorothy runs her own private practice in Maynooth. Dorothy will speak about 'Helping children transition into secondary school - lessons learned from my PhD research' and much more. 
  • Neasa Caulfield and Jenny Smyth Senior Occupational Therapists with the HSE, Louth will talk about the ‘Pathways of an assessment /intervention’ and how they bring a new model to the system. 
  • Hannah McDonnell who has Dyspraxia is currently working as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist in London. Hannah will talk about her struggles and successes throughout her career so far. 
  • Donna Shannon is a Counselling Psychologist based in Glasgow, Scotland. Donna has 10 years experience working with children, adolescents and adults and has a special interest in working with people with Dyspraxia/DCD. Donna will talk about ‘self-esteem and well-being‘. 
  • Victoria Biggs, who has Dyspraxia, is an academic and the author of ‘Caged in Chaos’. Victoria will talk about her journey right up to and through college. 
  • Also four members of our Association will talk about their journey with Dyspraxia/DCD.

The annual Gaelscoil PA AGM will take place on Monday 21/09/2015 in the Powder Room of The White Lady at 8pm. Elections will take place to construct a new PA for the 2015/2016 school year. I strongly encourage all parents to attend the meeting and to help make your children's experience in Gaelscoil Chionn tSáile even better, and to support the school. Calling all Knitters – Blankets of Hope are back!

You may remember last summer we presented an amazing 5 blankets to the Girls Club Cork which they gave to children as comforters as they undergo chemo. This charity provides help in many ways to  anyone who is undergoing chemo.

Meangadh Fíbín is recording a young people’s science series for TG4 in September 2015.  We are looking for enthusiastic young scientists who would enjoy the experience of being part of this fun television production. 
Our young scientists should be:
Fluent Irish speakers
Between 10 and 12 years of age
Bubbly and outgoing
Available for 1-2 days filming in Galway from 28 September - 9 October 2015 (accompanied by parent/guardian, accommodation provided)
Video Submission Guidelines
We are asking all our young scientists to send in a short video clip of themselves! 
Your video should:
Be no more than 2 minutes long.  
Feature you speaking in Irish 
Tell us a bit about yourself 
Demonstrate that you are a science enthusiast.

In the body of your email please write the following: your name, age, address, contact details and confirmation that you are available for 1-2 days filming in Galway between 28th September and 9th  October 2015.

Last call for Camden Fort Meagher for 2015!

Camden Fort Meagher, Crosshaven finish their summer season in style this weekend, Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th September 2015. The closing weekend line up includes the “Irish Military Living History” and the “Romans” Re-enactment Groups as well as live music and fun for all the family!
IMLH Group are dedicated to bringing history back to life! Their mission is to give people an impression of what life was like for the average soldier, to educate the public of a time gone by and the sacrifices made by so many.  The Re-enactment groups are regular at the fort and always guarantee a fun and educational day out for military enthusiasts and families alike! Charlies Trad and Folk will provide live music at the weekend, including Uilleann pipes, Bodhran, Banjo and Tin Whistles. This is your final chance, this year; to visit Camden Fort Meagher, so don’t miss out!

Camden Fort Meagher is a Cork County Council Restoration Project in partnership with a dedicated group of local volunteers. Overlooking Cork Harbour and internationally recognised as being "one of the finest remaining examples of a Coastal Artillery Fort in the world”. Enjoy an ideal family day out with lots to see and do, including underground tunnels and chambers, exhibitions and harbour view Tearooms.
