Look around Kinsale, Belgooly and Ballinspittle to see the lovely posters that we made with information about the coffee morning and cake sale this Friday 2nd Dec 2016 at Temperance Hall to raise money for the Simon Community. If you could bring a cake to sell or join us for a cup of tea or coffee and a scone that would be fantastic!

Many thanks

KYSS Mental Health Awareness Talk

Edel Foley, Clinical Manager at our Assessment Day Treatment Centre in Trabeg Lawn, Douglas (MTAS)  is the guest speaker at the Mental Health Awareness Talk hosted by Kinsale Youth Support Services (KYSS) on Tuesday 22nd November 2016 at 8pm at Actons Hotel, Kinsale, Cork.
The upcoming presentation on Adolescent Development & Substance Misuse Issues in the 21st Century will be invaluable to anyone who wants to know a little more about how best to understand adolescents. Young people do not live in isolation . They live in and transact with a complex world, where their daily lives are embedded in a multitude of systems that impact on their health, well being and even their choices. The problems and challenges they experience have to be understood in relation to the context in which they arise to ensure that the interventions and support offered are relevant and effective. The adolescent stage of development is a time where many life long patterns of behaviour are established . Therefore the first step to help young people is to be able to understand the various stages of development they go through and how the teenage years are a window of vulnerability to substance use.
Further information on our free service at Matt Talbot Adolescent Services isavailable on our website at www.mtas.ie

A survey on school uniform costs and other associated costs

The Department of Education and Skills is developing a directive to schools regarding school uniform policy and other associated costs.

The Minister is proposing that this directive will put greater emphasis on reducing the cost of school uniforms and other associated items.

As part of a consultation process the Department has given National Parents Council Primary the opportunity to give its observations, comments and suggestions on this issue.

In order to provide observations we are surveying parents to get your views on school uniforms and other associated costs.

Click this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SchoolUniformCosts to take part in this short survey.

The survey will close on the evening of Wednesday the 23rd of November 2016. Please circulate to any parents you think might be interested in completing this survey.

Max's Fundraising Events - Thursday 1st and 8th December 2016

Dear Parents,

Following the last successful charity dinners at Max’s we have decided to repeat this event again on Thursday 1st December or Thursday 8th December 2016 but we cannot do this without your help as we need the parents to cook, prepare, wash- up, set up and serve the meals!!

This also helps us to practically eliminate all overheads and we are just left with very basic costs. Last year’s event raised €4,000 for the school but only with everyone’s support.

This is a fun but professional event with very high quality food and excellent value for money, this year it will be a 7 course tasting menu for €27.00.

Possibly new taste and flavours for some but hopefully it will appeal to you all.

This is also a great way for you to meet other parents because ye will all be in the same boat which will be well out of your comfort zone.

We will need volunteers for both dates:

Food preparation
9am - 12 noon approximately
3 people

Wash up
6.30 - 9pm & 9pm - midnight
1 person for 1st shift and 2 for later shift

Kitchen
6pm - Midnight
3 people per night

Wait staff
6pm - Midnight
4 people per night

Morning After
9am – 11am
2 - 3 people

To volunteer please contact us on 021-477-2443 or 086-196-7587

See maxs.ie to see the menu.

Please spread the word to friends, neighbors and colleagues!
